Daniela is a nerd and I met her one day at lunch in one of my favorite Korean restaurants in Via San Marco in Milan.
In addition to being the head of beauty for grazia.it and consequently knowing everything about cosmetics, from grandmother's remedies to the latest generation creams I discovered she was a great lover of cinema, so big to have a website, gli88folli.it, where she explores her obsessions concerning cinema and tv series.

instagram.com/daniela_losini

I am one of those people who read the about of your site has clicked the link to figure out who the 88folli were. Simplify my life, suggest the five films I should definitely see.
My unmissable films are:

  1. Kill Bill, for me it is the sum of everything that a human being - metaphorically, physically, mentally - can do to get up again and the theme of revenge is staged in such a crystalline way and without guilt that it is irresistible.
  2. Once upon a time in America, for the perfect shots, the love for cinema infused in every frame, the epic of the story, it is like climbing on the roller coaster every time I see it again, I know by heart whole dialogues, it represents life.
  3. 2001: A Space Odyssey, because I am fascinated by metaphysics and the potential of artificial intelligence and what I do not know, it is a dark, dazzling, mysterious and elusive film.
  4. Goodfellas for the precise dialogues, the actors in a state of grace, the gangster and human epic in a single film.
  5. Harry, I'll introduce you to Sally, because it's the bible of human relationships.

Which is the current TV series that has more value for you?
The Miracle, a perfect series, and Westworld, a crescendo masterpiece.
The miracle represents today's Italy embedded between old superstitions and new prejudices, shows us a confused and resigned country that rather than take responsibility prefers to delegate solutions to miracles while crying, self-centering on their misfortunes. I like it because it's a lucid contemporary story with no discounts.
Westworld is a journey inside and outside our consciences with so many levels of reading that we lose our head, a little like venturing into the labyrinth of our thoughts. A sort of mirror where to reflect ourselves and reflect.

Can you explain to me why thirty years ago Italy was an avant-garde cinema and now we are struggling to achieve quality movies?
We have them, just look for them. We have Garrone, Sorrentino, Mainetti. The problem is the fathers who have engulfed their children and the lack of mutual support from the various figures that make up Italian cinema.
I find it right that the cinema of the past should be commemorated, but I find it just as right that the present and the future should be encouraged, explored and supported.
I believe that the greatest enemy of Italian cinema was precisely the Italian cinema itself. It has celebrated itself for too long and has remained crystallized in a perfect moment without evolving. Those who tried to do something else were somewhat repressed. In the last ten years, there has been instead a sort of silent revolution thanks to which, authors such as those mentioned and many others who make television and TV series, have been able to express themselves.
Another big mistake was having underestimated the public for too long, thinking of being able to please everything.
It works like Gomorra and Il Miracolo series exist, which are seen all over the world, we can say that we are working in the right direction. Speaking of Italian cinema then, I want to quote Claudio Caligari, a very talented director and creator of one of the best cinema of the last twenty years, to which he has dedicated himself with fatigue that, perhaps, has consumed him because today he is not there anymore.
His filmography is all to be recovered, incorporated and kept close to our lives.

Who do you think is a great actor/actress in Italy? What are the requirements that make it such?
I like Alba Rohrwacher, Matilda De Angelis, Paola Cortellesi, Alessandro Borghi, Valerio Mastandrea and Luca Marinelli. They all have a fire inside and a passion that breaks the screen to move the viewer.

Suggest me five readings that were important to you.

  1. It by Stephen King,
  2. A Hundred Years of Solitude and Love in the Time of Cholera by Marquez,
  3. Dracula by Bram Stoker,
  4. Consider the lobster of David Foster Wallace,
  5. the biographies of the serial killers I devour.

Is there anything you think others think of as insane?
I should ask the others but, in general, what other people think I'm not really interested in. I believe that happiness depends on ourselves and not on others, in any way.
Then I believe in the desire to be in the present, to do things, to build and I believe in walking, I mean precisely in the physical act of doing it. I have an ambitious project on the subject, it will be interesting to see how to do it.

If you could invite three people to dinner, who would you invite and why?
Margaret Atwood to talk about the new female liberation because there is a before and after October 2017 (after the movement #metoo and #quellavoltache) and I would like to know, in her opinion, how to manage the after, how to welcome all the new that will come. The macho culture has been repressive for - at least - a couple of centuries and it is understandable today to be angry for it but I would like that the rage we have today was a constructive one, not destructive. I am a feminist and an activist in construction and I do not want anyone to delegate their growth to others in a new and delicate context like today's. The tools for understanding are all there, inclusiveness is fundamental. At the same time, I have no intention of justifying anybody who is conniving with the "old" system anymore. It is a path that once started becomes unstoppable, I myself have some prejudices inside that I am disassembling with great accuracy and surgical precision.
Then I would invite Keanu Reeves to ask him to tell me how one lives in Chateaux Marmont and Lieutenant Ellen Ripley, whom I would like to be friends with because she knows how to use the flamethrower.

What is your strength? That part of your character that keeps you standing despite the difficulties?
Tenacity, I am attached to life like a mussel. I almost lost it two years ago, but I'm here and I have no intention of giving up.
Tale of my experience here medium.com/@danielalosini, for those who want to deepen. I wrote what I had to write publicly so maybe it could help.

What would you write on a billboard in the center of Milan?
Endless things to do and so little time.
(The Joker said so).

A me piacciono Alba Rohrwacher, Matilda De Angelis, Paola Cortellesi, Alessandro Borghi, Valerio Mastandrea e Luca Marinelli.

  1. It di Stephen King

Infinite cose da fare e così poco tempo. (L'ha detto il Joker).
