Viola Vatrini
Viola was suggested by Francesca. I've known Viola for years but we have never deepened our relationship, perhaps out of shyness, perhaps because of lack of time. I know her through Francesca's stories. Viola has dark hair and a big smile that she carefully shows.
What did you have breakfast with this morning?
Coffee and yogurt with cereals. Every day is different.
What is the first thing you do to start the day right?
I feed cats. For me, it is a necessity but also a daily ritual that gives me a rule and a sense of care.
Francesca told me to ask you about your vision of feminism.
I do not know if my vision is poetic, the end surely it is. Difficult to sum up, I try.
Being a feminist, today as always, means for me to question patriarchy in a structural way in our lives. It means recognizing it and recognizing yourself in doing so, therefore creating networks that cross genres, spaces and times.
Women, [all women who define themselves as such and therefore by extension all LGBT * QIA + * subjectivities], e.g. all the people who are victims of gender violence in the visible and invisible ways that our society implements, have the duty of networking and creating relationships that are first and foremost protected, where the awareness of who we are makes us strong in proposing an alternative vision of society and its dynamics.
Being a feminist, today as always, means learning to meet the other, which we symbolically identify in the white male, heterosexual, dominant in the Western capitalistic culture, not to educate it but to form new alliances through which to overcome centuries of domination and to build new models of well-being together.
Being a feminist means eradicating any kind of female competition that kills every premise of change.
[We can not forgive centuries of patriarchy, but we can make ourselves strong and very intelligent to be contemporary, in the search for the society of happiness].
* LGBT * QIA + is the acronym for people Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans or non-binary (*), Queer, Intersexual,
Asexual. The final + indicates the opening towards any other self-definition in relation to one's gender identity and/or sexual orientation.

If you could be part of the Italian government and had the power to introduce a law to support women what would be your proposal?
I imagine a law that protects equal pay.
Imagine: you can work two hours a day, what would you do for the rest of the day?
I would do more yoga, eat more at home, walk, read and make love much more. I would also try to see my grandmother more frequently.

I do not think so, but I know a lot of crazy people.

Con cosa hai fatto colazione questa mattina?
Caffè e yogurt con cereali. Ogni giorno è diverso.
Qual è la prima cosa che fai per iniziare la giornata nel modo giusto?
Dò da mangiare ai gatti. Per me è una necessità ma anche un rito quotidiano che mi dà regola e senso di cura.
Francesca mi ha suggerito di chiederti di raccontami della tua visione del femminismo.
Essere femminista, oggi come sempre, significa per me mettere in discussione nelle nostre vite il patriarcato in modo strutturale. Significa riconoscerlo e riconoscersi nel farlo, dunque creare reti che attraversino generi, spazi e tempi.
Le donne, (tutte le donne che si definiscono tali e dunque per estensione tutte le soggettività LGBT*QIA+*) ovvero tutte le persone che sono vittima di violenza di genere nei modi visibili e invisibili che la nostra società attua, hanno il dovere di mettersi in rete e creare spazi di relazione protetti, in cui la consapevolezza di chi siamo ci renda forti nel proporre una visione alternativa della società e delle sue dinamiche.
Essere femminista, oggi come sempre, significa imparare a incontrare l’altro, che simbolicamente individuiamo nel maschio bianco, eterosessuale, dominante nella cultura capitalistica occidentale, non per educarlo ma per formare nuove alleanze attraverso le quali superare secoli di dominazione e costruire insieme nuovi modelli di benessere.
Essere femminista significa sradicare qualunque tipo di competizione femminile che uccide ogni premessa al cambiamento.
Non possiamo perdonare secoli di patriarcato, ma possiamo farci forti e intelligentissime per essere contemporanee, nella ricerca della società della felicità.
*LGBT*QIA + è l’acronimo per persone lesbiche, gay, bisessuali, trans o non binarie (*), queer, intersessuali, asessuali. Il + finale indica l’apertura verso qualsiasi altra autodefinizione in relazione alla propria identità di genere e/o orientamento sessuale.

Se tu potessi far parte del Governo italiano e avessi la facoltà di introdurre una legge a sostegno delle donne quale sarebbe la tua proposta?
Immagino una legge che tuteli la parità salariale.
Immagina: puoi lavorare due ore al giorno, cosa faresti nel resto della giornata?
Farei più yoga, mangerei di più a casa, camminerei, leggerei e farei l’amore molto molto di più. Cercherei anche di vedere più di frequente mia nonna.
