Lucille was suggested by Elena. In Milan, she is known because she has created a special place, called Roots, which combines inner beauty with outer beauty. Lucille decided to change her life without hesitation, she was courageous and determined, she stopped at nothing because she is full of ambition.
You are a tattoo artist who decided to change her life one day. What is the spring that pushes you to change the state of things in which you find yourself and leave again?
What drives me to change is the feeling of inner discomfort that begins to be felt when you lack the desire to wake up in the morning.
I did a job that I liked a lot. I was involved in designing clothes and following their production, but at a certain point, I no longer felt well in the environment in which I worked because I felt that there was no respect for their collaborators and that sense of humanity that, in my opinion, should be at the base of each report. This lack began to be frustrating enough to make me think about what would have made me happy and one day, talking to a friend about my passion for tattoos, he promised myself that he would give me my first kit for my birthday and everything was born there.
At the beginning, I did a course that gave me the basics and I started tattooing my friend Alessandro, with whom I had confided a few months before and he gave me the kit together with the rest of my best friends.
While I was doing my first tattoo on him I realized that for me there was a second chance and in three months I left my previous job knowing that, with the liquidation, I would have the resources to build my dream.
Which human characteristic wins you over?
Respect is fundamental for me. I really appreciate people who love to confront and share their points of view. I realize that education and kindness win me over and can even make up for, at times, a lack of sympathy.
Elena says you are an explosion of ideas and creativity, you have founded a multi-functional space, where interests and passions are mixed thanks to collaborations and daily work. Where did the idea of combining a tattoo studio and a place to take care of your hair come from?
We are four friends who, animated by an excellent synergy and great mutual esteem, have given life to a project that could unite the tattoo world with that of hairstyling. I do not deny that, at the base, the union also depended on the need to support us in the creation of this project which was initially a great struggle from an economic point of view and required us to work from our savings.
What are your favorite things in the neighborhood you live in?
I like to go to the same places because I become fond of places and people. This is true for the bar where I love to drink the hood, but also for the place where I go to drink an excellent centrifuge called the Susina, in Via Lagrange, to which I am fond because I discovered it when I was not yet doing this job. I am so loyal to this place that I became friends with the owner.
Another place I like is Verso, in Ticinese, where I can choose a good book and drink a glass of wine.
Do you have rituals that help you feel confident about yourself?
I really care about taking care of myself. I like getting my hands and hair done and I've always loved using creams, especially the Comfort Zone line that I find to be excellent.
Another ritual that makes me feel good is, when I get home, turn on my incense and have the objects I love in the places I have chosen for them. In particular, the center of the table is the place where I collect the things I like the most and, when the time for dinner arrives, the ritual of transferring objects to make room for dishes and food is implemented.
Even taking a herbal tea in the evening in front of a movie is a habit that I love a lot and helps me relax.
I cannot omit the ritual that binds me to my dogs with which I wake up in the morning and have breakfast, for me always the same as for them the usual biscuit.
What do you recommend to people who want to change their lives but do not have the courage to do so? Do you have a method to suggest? Did you have clear ideas when you quit your previous job?
I believe that there is no general advice that is valid without distinction. What I can say is that it is not for everyone to make radical choices that lead to great changes both in terms of work and life. I find it worth doing if we realize that we are deeply dissatisfied with our work and have a great passion that could be turned into a new profession.
Otherwise, I think it is more useful to try to cultivate another interest, outside of work, in order to still be able to dedicate quality time to oneself and find fulfillment in a context that does not necessarily have to be that of work.
In any case, courage must come to you on your own, a little like when you realize that the time has come to leave someone. For me, an employment relationship, like any other relationship, is a love story and when you decide to change it's because you no longer want to see your owner, to dedicate your energy to him/her.
Tell me about one of the last projects you made.
One of the last projects we are working on, which will start in mid-October, is an artistic collaboration with Timberland for which me and my team of tattoo artists will be present in the various stores in Italy. The aim is to realize customizations of their historical boot with a pyrograph upon customer request.
If you could invite three people to dinner, who would you invite and why?
Ryan Gosling to watch him in the eyes, Frida Kahlo to talk about love and Carmen Consoli to talk about music.
If you were invited as a speaker for a conference and you didn't have to talk about your work, what would you talk about?
I would talk about life, how difficult it is, but how beautiful it can be.
What would you write on a billboard in downtown Milan?
Always be yourself and don't stop dreaming.

Quale caratteristica umana ti conquista maggiormente?
Tengo molto a prendermi cura di me stessa.
